58kg yellow fin tuna caught on the morning of christmas day 2007

On tuesday 25th december (christmas day) 2007 i deceide to go for a 2 hour dive at a place where i caught my 12kg leerfish a few months before, luckily before i went i changed my shaft to a big barb and as i had no normal line left, i used a couple of meters of a line which i thought was too thick for this time of the year, as i normaly keep this like for the greater amberjack season, little did i know what i was going to land that morning!!!

anyway i got in the sea, and started doing dives in shallow water but no fish where to be seen, then i decided to swim out a bit and from a distance i saw a fish that seemed to be too big to be true!!! it was very friendly, maybe cause i was the same size of her friends, i decided to shoot it in the eye because i was afraid that my singular band which is normally best for bass between 2 and 3 kgs would not penetrate this huge monster, but as the eyes are soft, the shaft went out of the whole socket and in for about 25 cms, the fish instead of doing what normally hit fis ho, it darted down to a sandy boddtom and started literally drilling in the sand, i was shocked as i never shot a fish that did that, i decided not to pull as if i did i would probably guide it out of the hole in the sand it did, it kept fighting, trying to go in the sand the way a worm does, luckily it was shallow and the visbility was good and i stayed in the surface watching my monster literally committing suicide in the sand, after about 10 to 12 long minutes it done a final wag of the tail and fell down like a dead tree, i then dived down with the knife in one hand and the line wrapped 3 times round other. instinctivly i stabbed it in the same hole where the shaft was coming out from and trying to pierce its brain from the eye, but while doing so i remembered a documentary saying that the best place to kill a tuna is in the heart, i put the knife from under and gave three hits, and surfaced leaving the knife in the fish and holding the line with both hands, the beast was bleeding a lot and decided to swim back to shore, very difficult task but i was in extacy
